Recently updated from the original 5,000 Watts of student-built off-grid solar to 16,800 Watts, the BBSI funded array provides uninterruptable power for life-critical pumps and temperature control for Earthshine’s education animals, and to recharge their Chevy Bolt educational outreach vehicle.

The expanded array produces more power than the Nature and Environmental Classroom building consumes, making it a true net-zero experience for the students.  Over a MegaWatt Hour of zero-emission electrical power is produced each month.

A solar-charged golf cart and electric conversion roto-tiller round out Earthshine’s renewable energy demonstrations.

The latest project supporting Earthshine Nature Programs has been providing a battery-based mobile solar power system for their mobile science classroom PoD (Pod of Discovery).  The PoD can run on pure solar power day or night, or can charge from a standard Electric Vehicle charging station.  The PoD can also provide mobile charging services from its solar or batteries.
